Shoes and Groom's Cake

Here are the shoes I decided on for my new dress........ I have had a hard time finding pictures of catfish cakes......
I think I like this one the best (as much as I can possibly like a catfish shaped cake) I think the size would be perfect too. I need to finalize with the cakery next week.

This cracks me up!!! I can only imagine what the rest of the wedding looked like!

There are 47 days until this mother happens, I am so bogged down in details that I am losing it. I don't think other people really understand unless you are doing it too. I try not to get crazy but it seems like I am consumed with these stupid little details that people are like what are you even talking about!

Fun things.....

So last week Mum and I got sooo much accomplished! We found the ribbon to use on the tables at the Bridal Luncheon at Michaels, we ordered the Boat and Totes for the Bridesmaids at LL Bean, and we also ordered the wooden letter to hang on the church doors at Craftcuts, we decided on 24" in the Poor Richard font. This is a much cheaper version of the beautiful letters covered in flowers which would have been almost $1,000!
I ordered these from Par Golf, a great source if you want to do golf related favors for your guests! They have lots of little motifs to choose from and the order came within a week, something I was not expecting because of the personalization! We are going to hand out little gift bags to the guys playing in our golf outing on Friday.....

We also have the map and booklets for each guest's room in the works at Mint Julep, hopefully I will get the map in an email so I can post for everyone! Everything is really coming along great!. My Dad decided to fly in on Friday so he could play in a tournament with David, they played again on Saturday while Mum and I shopped!

Waterfront Preppy tagged me again, so here are a few more tidbits about moi, we actually have a few things in common!!

1. I swam on my community's swim team since age 6 (give or take) and was on swim team all thru high school.

2. My first job was lifeguarding at age 15, I drove my Dad's golf cart to work.

3. I have always been extremely tan.

4. My first car was a 1985 528e BMW, "Old Blue" was also my brothers first car.....sadly he drowned in Hurrican Katrina.

5. I grew up playing in the Bayou across the street from our house, we had to wear tall shrimpin' boots in case we got bit by snakes.

6. I have been chased by an alligator, the boots didn't help with that.

The Groom

Today I am going to buy Davids blazer at Jos A Bank, they are havng a sale and its only $199 for a limited time. And yesterday I ordered his pants from VV for $78. I keep telling myself that these are things he will wear again so its not a big deal........

I would love to get him the navy shorts with lobsters for the rehearsal dinner! These are also on sale at Jos A Bank for $59!

What does YOUR husband do?

Yesterday afternoon I went to see David receive an Army Commendation Medal. I couldn't believe he told me the day before and didn't even think it was a big deal if I came, but of course I am all about going! So I get ready and wear a really cute blue toile halter dress, with cardigan and pearls of course! I am so excited because I looked cute and "supportive wife-ish", I get there and its all military guys and a few of their very frumpy looking wives. Well I stand out like a sore thumb..... so we are all sitting there in this auditorium(all the guys from his shop came too) and there is this loud noise and everyone jumps up and is at attention, so of course this scares me and I let out a high pitched noise and everyone starts laughing at me! So all of a sudden the speaker just gets right into talking about David and next thing I know I missed the picture moment, Damn! So this is why he received the medal........"for flawlessly executing 276 combat missions "......."he spotted a pressure wire in the middle of the road and swerved the vehicle saving the lives of him and his patrol"..........."he thwarted the efforts of bomb emplacers on 2,876 miles of highway, with 216 hours on the road, dismantling and disposing of IED's prior to their lethal detonation"

So I am pretty proud of him! He was there for 170 days and had 276 missions, you do the math.

Well whatever was beeping has run out of juice, I can't hear it anymore! I have noticed that alot of gals are asking their readers to say hello and make a comment, I know I have a few readers out there, so let me know who you are!! I have just come across a whole bunch of new blogs that I love and added them to my blogroll, I love all the southern gals blogs!

Back to the wedding, I really love this picture with the green chargers in it and would love to incorporate them in my tables. The only problem is, its hard to find green chargers that will match my color scheme. And we are renting square plates so we need square chargers. Here is what I have found, I am not sure how I feel about the glittery look, but the green is perfect!

Whats that noise?

Ok, we live in a fairly small apartment and the 2nd bedroom and closet is the "catch-all". David has lots of military-ish things piled up in the closet..... pelican cases, gun cases, camo bags, etc. All are filled with various things, I opened up a pelican case when I moved all our stuff upstairs while he was gone, and I immediately closed it. YUCK! So its still all packed in there nearly a year later. Well since yesterday there has been this nonstop beeping noise coming from something inside the closet, I have made 2 attempts to find out what it is, but then give up when I get to the all that crap. I am hoping it stops by the time mum comes to visit next week or she might go crazy!

New Dress

Today I am going to a bridal store to try and find a backup dress. I just want to be sure I have something to wear, the lady called me back and said my dress should be here mid May! I am not taking any chances, so the search begins again......

April Fools.....

So I ordered my dress back in January, technically its a bridesmaids dress so the girl told me it would be 6-8 weeks. Ok great, I paid in full and expected to hear from them mid March. Well I called today and asked politely if my dress had come in. "Oh no I can assure you it hasnt, we call as soon as the dress arrives" I say "ok well I just wanted check seeing as it 2 MONTHS till my wedding!!!!!" Then she says"ok well we will call you" as her voice trails off and she hangs up!!!! WTF???? I am sitting here waiting for her to call me back and say April Fools. I am more than a little pissed right now!!!!!

Jack Rogers for the Bridesmaids

One of the gifts my girls are getting will be their shoes, I originally thought the lime/white Jack Rogers would work, but I don't think the colors are right......I don't want to do an all white shoe and I want them to wear them again with other outfits.......any suggestions?

Pottery Barn reads my blog.....

Remember this post? I think Pottery Barn reads my blog.....Well mine didn't turn out as "rustic" as PB's version, but it did fill a big wall space above the TV! And its our monogram.....Notice the background wall art of nautical charts in the PB catalog? Looks alot like the charts I am going to use in the guest bedroom.....

It is a dreary day in Shreveport, the prospect of golf got David out of bed at 7:30am but he quickly returned after checking the weather channel. Tomorrow is my 25th birthday and we are going to celebrate tonight, not sure how.......I wonder if David knew that "not making a big deal out of my birthday" was not what I really meant???
