Southern Prep

Good News

Finally, on Friday the 13th, we get something good! My mum offered to pay all our expenses to come home for a few days and spend a few at the beach too! Thanks mummy, I love you!

Here's whats been happening since we tied the knot:
Sunday-recovered and unloaded all our stuff at the apt.
Monday-Davids car died and we had to have it towed
Tuesday-Our ceiling leaked water after heavy rain Mon night
Wednesday-David got tasked to go to Afghanistan
Today- praying nothing bad will happen.......

So we will not be going anywhere on a honeymoon, the car is going to be very expensive so we have to spend our wedding money on that :( and even though we dont have to pay to have our roof fixed, we need to be here to watch it so it doesnt leak anymore. (Its supposed to rain all weekend)

We are trying to have fun here though! Playing lots of golf ( I got a new driver!) and drinking heavily after Wednesday's news!!!

OMG!!! We had so much fun!! It was absolutely perfect!! I never took pictures with my camera all weekend, but I promise I will find ya'll some pictures soon!!!

Weather

I have been checking the weather everyday and today I finally got to see what my wedding day would be like: Mostly Sunny 0% chance of rain!!!! Thursday and Friday will be just as beautiful!!! This is so much of a relief!

New Reception Decor

Well now that there is 15 more days (hyperventilating) I have run out of things to post about, really the next thing will be wedding pictures! I can't believe it!! I am super-stressing about everything right now, but I have decided on the new reception decor:

This lovely little pinata will be the hi-lite of the evening!

Then we decided to hang these "lovebirds" all over the place!

No, not really, I am just trying to give myself a laugh before I keel over from a stress related heart attack.

I love how this bouquet is tied with little rope, I was hoping for something bigger for mine, but this looks good without being too much. Maybe navy ribbon around the stems first then white rope around that?
Also we are trying to come up with ideas for more decor............I was thinking trees with lights in them, those swoopy fabric things that hang from the ceiling, or maybe paper lanterns?

Engagement Pictures

Going Away Party

Tomorrow I am going to David's Captain's Going Away party, so I put together this little "Taste of Louisiana" bag for him. He is going to New Mexico and everyone is really sad because he is such a great Captain.
Included: Zapps potato chips, Tony's, Abita Springs Beer, Mini Tabasco bottles, Panola Cajun hot sauce, Louisiana Supreme wing sauce, and 2 boxes of Zatarains: red beans & rice and jambalaya and a crawfish platter.

Golf Bags

Last night and this morning we had such bad weather, and of course I am alone. It scared me so bad that during one thunder crack, I screamed so loud I'm sure my neighbors heard . So finally the weather cleared up and I ventured out to Michaels. I needed to make up the bags for the golf outing. So I got clear bags and green ribbon and went to town. Wheeewww, glad that's done, one down....... about a million things left to do. The seating chart is evening itself out, Thank Goodness! Here are the little golf bags, I didn't go too crazy because the guys are just going to rip into them anyway!

My shoes came and they are fabulous!!!! They fit perfectly and so far are very comfortable and easy to walk in!They look huge in these pictures!!

OMG

I MUST have the headband Blair wore tonight on Gossip Girl!!! I can't find anything about it? Anyone have a clue?

Seating Chart

This is alot harder than I thought, originally we anticipated having 8 or 9 tables, I am up to 13 tables now. But most of them are one person short......GRRRRR! This is so frustrating!!!

Shower

On Saturday I had a shower that everyone came in town for, it was so great to see Davids mum and Jamie (Davids sister/my best friend) This is a picture of us after I opened the card from her. Jamie does these amazing personalized cards for every occasion and she has a real talent!! There was a picture of the 2 of us back in our wild days, so it made me crack up laughing! Granny, Davids grandma was there too and she gave me some unmentionables!
This is me trying to open my mums gifts, she wraps them so no one can get into them!!
It was a really fun shower, but now I am all alone. My day started at 3:45 when I had to bring David to the airport. He is going to North Dakota for 2 weeks! Then I came home and had to take Mum 2, Granny and Jamie to the airport, so sad!! I'm hoping Jamie will come back since she has 2 weeks until summer school!!!!

Southern Charm

I have been thinking about the wedding 24/7 and it seems like it consumes me. I'm dreaming of the girly coast wedding that I am not having, and that inspired me to do this...... These are random images found all over, the invitation is just plain by Birchcraft, very cheap too, like $85 for 50!! The dress is Cotton Bride, I am obsessed with these dresses!! The building is Beauvoir, I posted about it a few months ago, I would love to have a lawn party reception here!!


Mum and Dad are on their way up right now and David's Mum, Granny and Sis will be here Friday nite! Can't wait!!! I should quit blogging and start cleaning......

Stamps

I have been thinking of how to do the place cards for the past few days and I am leaning towards white paper with navy lettering. Instead of table numbers have little motifs on the cards and have that represent the table assignment. On each table their would be a card with the motif on it. I found these cute little stamps at Stamps by Impression.



This may be too confusing for people, I just like the stamps though!

I am still searching for shoes since I had to return the others, I found a few that I like from My Glass Slipper. Both of these are Kate Spade, I am leaning towards the bottom pair, but I'm just not sure.

Extensions:Not for the tender-headed

Last Friday I had my hair trial, it went great and I am happy with how it turned out. Deborah, the lady who did it, told me that in order to get the extensions out all you have to do is rub conditioner on them and they fall right out. So last night I decided to take them out because I figure the more I straighten/roll them, the more fried and nasty they will get. Heres how it went:

5:15 Get in shower, start rubbing conditioner

5:17 start tugging on extensions

5:20 dump more conditioner on my head

5:30 still rubbing, turn shower off as to avoid running out of hot water

5:38 more conditioner

5:40 sitting on side of tub massaging head

5:41 yell to David that yes I am ok

5:42 yell to David that no I am not ok

5:45 crying as I pull out the first piece

6:20 still crying as I pull out the last piece

Ok I had to pull out 16 seperate extensions, I have really thick hair so she had to use alot. Now I am trying to get the glue off my head, ouch, I am losing hair left and right. This is not good. Deborah told me to hang them up to let them dry so here is what they look like:

They look kinda gross because I didn't wash the conditioner out of them. I was to tired to do that so I just hung them over the ironing board. David walked and hit the ground laughing. I didn't know where else to put them?? I am just glad I left them in for the engagment photos, because I have to wear a hat for the next few days to hide the glue chunks attached to my scalp.

Yesterday we took our engagement photos and it was so much fun! I am not one to be serious and "posey" and it was very hard for me to be serious. I have a feeling that in most of the pictures I will be cheesing hard. I could never be a model I laugh too much (well that and about 50 lbs). David had today off so we got up at 7am and went to play golf and when we got home there was a package at our doorstep. My shoes came!! Yay!!! Then I tried them on, Booo!!! They are too big and thats the only size left, as they are discontinued. So the search continues.......Well after that I am pouting around the house doing laundry, a little pissed still, when David's cousin Danielle called and gave me some really amazing news! She wants to feature our wedding in her magazine Southern Wedding Style Magazine!! I am still in shock!!

Chicken breasts, the great divide 1/2 chocolate 1/2 vanilla ice cream, my veggie lasagna, lots of ground beef, pork chops, a chicken, and lots of waffles(hidden in the back)
This is the new piece of furniture! I love it! We are going today to find paint/stain for it.

Ed's getting married

These are the letters for the church doors. Bobbi Rice is going to paint them antique white to match the Oar guestbook. They will hang from green ribbon against the dark wooden doors of the church, which I think will look fabulous!!! Then we can hang them with the oars afterwards!! I think they will be far enough apart that people will realize they are initials and not Ed, the name! (I hope)

Oh no!!

So I have been going to the tanning bed for the past few months, not too much but enough so that I am not pasty. Well at this point I am pretty tan except for 2 spots.......2 little circles on my shoulder blades. It looks like someone cut my angel wings off and it left a scar (thats my story and I'm sticking with it) Well anyway what the heck am I going to do about this, people will be staring at my back for like 45 minutes?

Good Deals

Ya know those days when everything kinda comes together for you? Well I had one today! I picked up Davids jacket and since TJ Maxx is just right across the street I figured I would stop in! Right there in the dress section there they were............. Lovely Vineyard Vines dresses for great prices!!!!

The orange check I will wear to the Thursday nite Welcome Dinner that we are having for everyone coming in from out of town, then the pink and green starfish I will wear to the Rehearsal Dinner, and the white one I will wear on our "honeymoon".

Then I went to the furniture store where we bought the piece that was delivered yesterday. The cabinet/armoire that came kept falling over on me because the doors were too heavy and the rest of it was too narrow. I am not about to put my Kate Spade china and crystal in some POS that keeps falling on me!!! So I got something else that will be delivered on Friday morning!!

After that I went to Albertsons, the only local grocery store thats worth a hoot. David told me last night he needed meat in his diet ( I made him a baked potato and green beans one night and he misses the meat) So Albertsons was having a Buy one Get one Free thing on like everything, so I really stocked up for David and got some yummy veggies for me! Then after all that savings the nice lady that checked me out gave me another $10 off!!

I have a question for Etiquettely Correct..... or anyone who has some input:

I have been receiving wedding gifts from folks who have RSVP'd with a decline, should I send a Thank you note right away or wait until right after the wedding? My thoughts are to send it right away so that the person knows the gift was received. But I'm not sure!! Help!!!

On the Agenda This Week

Here are a few things going on in my world this week:
1. David's jacket is ready at Jos A Bank, luckily its paid for, I just need to pick it up
2. I am having a piece of furniture delivered this afternoon that Mum bought us last time she was here, so that means I have to clear out the things I have piled up in the spare bedroom.
3. Friday I have my hair trial, I was supposed to go last week but she had to order my extensions.......Yes I am getting fake hurrr (as David says) I just want more length ok? Get off me people!
4. Sunday we are taking our engagement photos.....finally! We went yesterday and scouted locations, we are actually going to be on the AFB the whole time, there are beautiful lakes out there and we found one in particular that I love!! We are also going to the golf course on the base for some photos!

How fun are these tins? I found them thru the Bona Fide Preppy Bride.......the green one has our exact monogram alrady on it.....in our colors......it must be fate! We could find something to put in it, right Mum?
